A balloon device is inserted into the sinus passageways. The balloon is then inflated to dilate the sinus passageways.
Balloon Sinuplasty is offered by some doctors in their office under local anesthesia. Doctors open inflamed sinuses in the same way that heart surgeons open up blocked arteries during balloon angioplasty. Balloon devices are non-reusable and represent a significant cost when performing sinus dilation surgeries.
